The event is to support his October trek to Mera Peak in the Himalayas with friends Phil Johns and Dave Palmer, which they hope will raise £20,000 for the charity.

Andrew has set up the tournament through his workplace Interdean, where he is an Account Manager.

Entitled Interdean Rugby 7s, the tournament takes place on Saturday August 9 at 10:30am at the Wasps Training Ground in Acton.

The event will include:

  • 20 teams competing in a Rugby 7s tournament throughout the day
  • a presentation by England Rugby World Cup winner Jason Leonard
  • a display of the Premiership Trophy from 12.00pm – 3.00pm
  • stalls including Raging Bull, Ellis Rugby, and many more
  • food stalls and bar (with drinks served until 11pm)
  • children's entertainment (bouncy castle, juggling, etc)
  • live evening entertainment

Capital Appeals Fundraiser Beverley Brock said: “Interdean are longtime supporters of the Project Butterfly appeal, and we’re thrilled that Andrew has set up this tournament.

“It looks like being a great day out – we wish him the best, both on Saturday and when he treks to Mera Peak in October.”

Tickets are £3 in advance or £4 on the day.

Tickets are available from the Interdean website.
